My name is Katlin, and I would love to help you create your In(formal) Memoir.

A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Katlin. I’ve been a writer for most of my life and have always enjoyed meeting people and hearing people’s stories, whether they were about growing up, defining moments (big and small), the mentors and friends who influenced them, siblings, or just about anything else. My interest in documenting people’s life stories has been inspired in large part by my grandfather, who wrote a memoir and distributed copies of it to his children and grandchildren before passing away a decade ago. When I read about his experiences growing up in New York City during the Great Depression, serving as a medic in World War II, raising a family, and traveling the world, it feels like I can hear him telling these stories next to me. I treasure this memoir, his memories, and the lessons that they all teach me about hope, adventure, and kindness.

My grandfather’s memoir, combined with my love of storytelling and meeting new people, planted the seed for my interest in helping other people create their memoir as a ghostwriter.

In 2020 I took a leap of faith and posted on social media networks, asking if anyone would be willing to have their stories recorded and turned into a memoir. I was surprised by how many people responded to my requests. I received messages from adults who wanted their parents’ memoirs written. An adult daughter who wanted to record her mother’s memories of immigrating to the United States for a better life. A parent who wanted her husband’s stories recorded for their children to read when they were older. An older man with cherished childhood memories and stories of adventures traveling across the United States. I knew I had stumbled upon something that people wanted and was excited to begin my career as a memoir ghostwriter.
